Gwen Scott Diabetes Professional Development Grants Program 2010

The program was commenced in 2006 to encourage health professionals to undertake professional development activities to enhance their practice in the care and management of diabetes. It is open to all health professionals who are members of Diabetes Australia–Vic.
Sadly, Gwen Scott a pioneer in diabetes education in Australia, and founding Chief Executive Officer of Diabetes Australia–Vic died on Friday 5 January 2007. The grants program will ensure her contribution to diabetes care in Victoria will be remembered and that future generations of health professionals will be supported in enhancing their skills in their work with people with diabetes in her honour.
Professional development activities that will be considered for funding under this grant program include basic training in diabetes education, more advanced study of specific areas of diabetes and its management, specific skill acquisition programs and attendance at diabetes-specific or other relevant seminars, conferences etc. Applications to support participation in the the new post graduate Unit in Advanced Diabetes Management being conducted at Deakin University will be seen favourably.
Applications will close at the end of March 2010. Grants will be offered to successful applicants in early April 2010.
