Peers for Progress Diabetes Project
Peer support really can help you manage your diabetes much more effectively

Do you have type 2 diabetes?
Would you like to meet and talk with other people in your local area with type 2 diabetes?
We are inviting people to participate in our project either as peer group leaders or as group members.
The Australasian Peers for Progress project, in conjunction with Diabetes Australia – Vic, is offering you an opportunity to participate in an exciting, innovative community based research project looking at the benefits of peer support groups for people with type 2 diabetes. You will receive 1-day of diabetes self-management education from Diabetes Australia – Vic free of charge as part of the project.
This project involves small groups of 8 – 12 people with type 2 diabetes meeting each month for 12 months with two peer leaders from the community, who also have type 2 diabetes and have been especially trained to lead the group.
Participants will learn from each other and share personal experiences and knowledge about challenges and successes of living with and managing diabetes.
