Type 2 diabetes Programs & Services
We provide a range of programs and services for people with type 2 diabetes, their carers and family members.
Our advocacy coordinator provides information, support and advocacy for issues affecting people with diabetes or their carers and helps take action on the concerns and suggestions for improvement in diabetes care.
Type 2 diabetes information session
‘Getting Started’ is a diabetes information session for people with type 2 diabetes who are newly diagnosed or have not had diabetes education in the past. The two and half hour session is run by our diabetes educator and dietitian who will provide you with valuable information to get you started managing your diabetes.
Topics include
- What is diabetes?
- Staying well with diabetes
- Getting started with blood glucose monitoring
- Introduction to healthy eating
- Your diabetes health care team
Carers and family members are welcome and bookings are essential.
DA–Vic Members price to attend is $10 and non-members price to attend is $15.

The Type 2 in the City seminar is suitable for people with type 2 diabetes, who are in the workforce, or of working age.

Supermarket tours
We organise supermarket tours in metropolitan and regional areas to help make shopping for healthy food easier.
