Hear about how and why blood glucose monitoring is an important part of diabetes management. A diabetes educator will provide general information and speakers from blood glucose monitor companies will talk about their products
11.30am Social media and diabetes
Renza Scibilia (Manager – Type 1 Diabetes and Community Programs) and Corrina Langelaan (Campaign Manager – The Parents’ Jury) will discuss how social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, blogs and websites have changed the way we look for health information and how online communities support people living with diabetes.
Lunch
1.00pm Insulin Pump Therapy
(for people with type 1 diabetes)
More and more people with type 1 diabetes are using insulin pumps. Cheryl Steele, CDE will discuss pump therapy and then representatives from pump companies will provide information about their products. You will also hear about continuous glucose monitoring and other new technologies.
