Cancer Leader Joins Diabetes Australia – Vic
Diabetes Australia – Vic is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer: Craig Bennett. Craig will take up his appointment on Monday 4 March.
Craig is an experienced hospital executive, having spent the past eight and a half years as CEO of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the only public hospital in Australia dedicated solely to cancer care. Prior to this, Craig was the CEO of public hospitals in Western Australia, South Australia and the UK.
Craig has a well-established track record of successfully negotiating with senior State and Commonwealth bureaucrats on both complex health capital projects and issues of public health policy. He was a leading contributor to the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Project at Parkville in Melbourne and led the development of a number of research and service provision collaborations with a range of key stakeholders.
Craig is a qualified health economist. He believes there are many similarities between his recent leadership of Australia’s pre-eminent cancer centre and what he can offer to Diabetes Australia – Vic. Craig said that: “I am looking forward to implementing the strategic vision and objectives of Diabetes Australia – Vic and, in so doing, working to reduce the impact of diabetes in the Victorian community“.
Craig’s appointment fills the role left by Professor Greg Johnson, who has moved into the national role as Chief Executive Officer of Diabetes Australia.
Diabetes Australia – Vic is the leading charity and peak consumer body working to reduce the impact of diabetes.
