That’s a wrap on Community Matters

These events welcomed people living with or at risk of diabetes, and created a space where they could learn, connect, and feel supported.

Bringing together community members, local groups, health professionals and Diabetes Victoria services, each event offered practical information, local support, and the chance to meet others on a similar journey. It also featured a hands-on session about how to read food labels confidently, helping people make informed everyday choices.

Regional Reach

We were especially proud to bring these events to regional and suburban locations, something our members have been asking for. In 2025, Community Matters events were held in Bendigo, Craigieburn, Traralgon, Ballarat, Doncaster, and Echuca, reaching communities who often tell us they feel underserviced.

More than 600 people attended Community Matters events across the state. We are pleased to have provided this much-needed support, and the feedback speaks for itself:

“I emailed you last year asking you to come to Echuca. It is so great you are here in my town, it makes us regional folks feel seen.” - Community Matters participant, Echuca

What’s next?

Community Matters is growing in 2026

After a successful first year, Diabetes Victoria will be visiting four brand-new locations next year:

  • Warrnambool
  • Geelong
  • Malvern East
  • Albury/Wodonga

If you or someone you know is interested in attending, keep an eye on our website in the new year. We would love to see you there! Visit our events page.
