CareSens Air CGM Now Available in Australia

The CareSens Air is designed for:

  • People aged 18 years and over
  • People living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes

This is an accessible option for glucose monitoring for people living with type 2 diabetes who may not be eligible for subsidised CGM products through the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS).

About CareSens Air

CareSens Air is a wearable CGM device that continuously measures glucose levels in interstitial fluid and sends readings directly to a compatible smartphone. It delivers glucose data every five minutes and is an all-in-one sensor, meaning, no assembly is required.

Availability and Purchase

CareSens Air is available for direct purchase online from Pharmaco Diabetes Australia and selected pharmacies.

Pricing starts from around $55 per sensor, with multi-pack savings available.

At this time, CareSens Air is not listed as a subsidised CGM product on the NDSS. This means it cannot be accessed through the NDSS CGM access scheme used for subsidised CGM devices, such as the Dexcom G7 or FreeStyle Libre family.

Subsidised NDSS access to CGM products is currently provided only to eligible people with type 1 diabetes and some rare conditions similar to type 1, following assessment by an authorised health professional.

Who Might Benefit Most

  • People with type 2 diabetes who want the benefits of continuous glucose insights but are not eligible for NDSS-subsidised CGM.
  • Adults with diabetes interested in managing glucose patterns with real-time data sent to a smartphone app.
  • Anyone seeking a flexible, non-NDSS, direct-to-consumer CGM solution.

How to Get Started

There is no prescription required, however it is highly recommended people consult with their healthcare team before beginning CGM use.

  • General Practitioners (GPs) to determine if CGM is a suitable part of the care plan.
  • Credentialled Diabetes Educators (DNEs) for education on effective glucose monitoring and device setup.
  • Endocrinologists for comprehensive diabetes management and integration of CGM into a personalised treatment plan.
