Type 2 diabetes and digital health
Aim of the study:
The aim of this study is to adapt, design, develop and ultimately test a new SMART-T2D platform for people living with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The platform aims to make self-care easier, more personalised, and better connected for people living with T2D.
It aims to use daily health data — like blood glucose, activity, sleep, and food — to give more tailored support (e.g., via an app and voice assistant). It can also help keep your healthcare team in the loop between visits, if you choose to share your updates.
Who can take part in this study?
- First phase: Adults living with type 2 diabetes and their carers/significant others (where appropriate)
- Researchers are especially keen to hear from people living in regional areas and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Second phase: Healthcare professionals (e.g., diabetes educators, GPs, endocrinologists, nurses, allied health) that work with people living with type 2 diabetes
Site location (where participants will need to attend)
- Initial interviews and workshops will be done online (Zoom/Teams)
Requirements of participants
You can get involved by joining a short online interview or workshop – your ideas will help us shape SMART-T2D and make it more useful and inclusive for everyone
Why this study is important for people living with type 2 diabetes
Managing T2D is a lot to juggle — and support often comes in short bursts during appointments, rather than when you need it most.
SMART-T2D aims to give you daily, personalised support to help with the small decisions that matter — when to move, eat, rest, or check your blood glucose levels — all based on your needs and patterns.
