2026 Parliamentary Friends of People Affected by Diabetes Event
For over 70 years, Diabetes Victoria has stood alongside Victorians impacted by diabetes, advocating for better outcomes, driving policy change, and ensuring that lived experiences lead the way.
In a year of significant change, we are bringing what our community is telling us directly to the forefront.
On Wednesday 17 June, Diabetes Victoria and parliamentary co-convenors will host a private event at Parliament House to bring the authentic, raw experiences of Victorians living with diabetes straight to key decision-makers.
Bringing Lived Experience to the Forefront
While this is a private event for policymakers, it is driven purely by the community.
Attendees will get an exclusive first look at the powerful insights emerging from people right across Victoria, like what gives them hope, the barriers they face, and what they wish others understood about life with diabetes.
These voices will be front and center, offering leaders a sneak peek into our upcoming campaign ahead of National Diabetes Week.
During this event, decision-makers will:
- Hear direct, unedited messages from people affected by diabetes across the state.
- Engage with our 2026 Victorian Election Priorities, which have been entirely shaped and driven by community feedback.
- Have the opportunity to show their support by leaving their own messages of solidarity or filming short comment videos.
Share Your Voice
This event is a powerful moment to bring real, lived experiences directly into vital policy conversations. The messages being shared belong to the community, shaped by our Messages that Matters campaign and your voice needs to be in the room.
If you want to share what you wish decision-makers understood about life with diabetes, or what needs to change to help shape better outcomes in Victoria, we want to hear from you.
