FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor to be discontinued
People currently accessing the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor through the NDSS will be automatically updated to the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor before this change comes into effect.
What this means if you use the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor
If you currently access the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor through the NDSS, you do not need to take any action. By 30 June 2026, your NDSS access will automatically update to the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor.
About the FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor
- Compatibility: The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor is compatible with existing FreeStyle Libre apps and reader devices. There are no changes to insertion technique or device use.
- The FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor has a 15-day lifespan
- NDSS Code: 995
- Cost: For people who co-pay for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensors, the co-pay is $17.90 per FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor. There is no co-pay for concession card holders or registrants under 21 years of age.
- Copayments for all CGM products are equivalent, and the individual differences reflect the different sensor lifespan and pack size for individual products.
