Gwen Scott: Agile Leadership in Action
Over the past three years, I became the Project Lead for establishing the Diabetes Victoria Clinic. I helped design and build the Clinic from the ground up. Since then, the Clinic has grown into a full clinical service. We now provide clinical care, support diabetes research trials, and deliver Professional Development Services (PDS). The PDS supports professionals across education, health, and care sectors to confidently manage diabetes.
My current role involves working with many different departments across Diabetes Victoria. It also requires flexibility, as I help respond to gaps in diabetes services across Victoria. PRINCE2 Agile has helped me manage this work more effectively. The agile approach, including methods such as Scrum, allows projects to move quickly and adapt to change.
The skills I learned have helped keep new clinical services organised, delivered on time, and within budget. This is especially important in a charity setting. I have also learned how to regularly review progress against project plans and business cases, make flexible decisions when needed, and manage any changes or deviations in a structured way.
Overall, PRINCE2 Agile has helped the Clinical Services team work more confidently, stay adaptable, and continue delivering high-quality services.
