Gordon’s Story
For three decades, local supporter Gordon has turned to Diabetes Victoria for support.
“I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 30 years ago and one of the first things I did was join Diabetes Victoria as a member,” he explains.
“I started receiving the quarterly magazines which were helpful, and I talked to the diabetes nurses and educators, and took advantage of the other services they had available.
“I’m leaving a gift to Diabetes Victoria in my will because they deliver essential services for people with diabetes,
“Diabetes Victoria also supports diabetes research and that’s important to me. I want researchers to find a cure.”
Thanks to our supporters like Gordon, Diabetes Victoria have been the largest contributor to the national diabetes research program over the past decade, ensuring that cutting-edge diabetes research benefits all Victorians.
Our collaboration with partners like the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes (ACBRD) highlights our commitment to improving lives by better understating the behavioural, psychological, and social aspects of diabetes.
We have collaborated with other industry leaders to create innovative services such as the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) diabetes service and we continue to advocate for improved access to quality care across Victoria’s health systems.
You can help us create a future where diabetes can do no harm by nominating a gift in your will. Gordon says the process of writing his will was simple. “Diabetes Victoria sent me a bequest information pack in the post, free of charge.”
“Writing my will cost nothing and took less than 10 minutes. My bequest is for free funds, so Diabetes Victoria can use it as they need it.
“I wanted my estate to be put to some practical use, and this way Diabetes Victoria can help others who live with the same condition I have managed for so many years.”
To ensure your gift makes the impact you intend it to, please ensure you include Diabetes Victoria, ABN 71 005 239 510 in your will.
