Savers Opens Doors in Geelong

In honour of the store opening, the Savers team generously donated $5000 to Diabetes Victoria.

“It was a lovely surprise that will support our work in Geelong and across the state,” says Diabetes Victoria CEO Glen Noonan.

“Diabetes Victoria has been collecting donated goods across the Geelong region for more than 20 years. This store opening represents a new chapter of deeper connection to the region.”

Deakin University is a strategic research partner of Diabetes Victoria and is one of the key beneficiaries of the funds generated from the Savers partnership

Deakin has been part of the Geelong community for more than 50 years.

“Our partnership with Deakin enhances our shared connection to Geelong, bringing together diabetes research, expertise and a commitment to improving health and wellbeing in the community,” Mr Noonan says.

“That shared commitment is increasingly important as Geelong grows, with more people and families affected by diabetes.”

Three decades of partnership

Diabetes Victoria and Savers will celebrate 30 years of partnership in 2027.

The funding received through this partnership supports Diabetes Victoria to provide education, information and care to people living with diabetes and their families, and advocate for the treatment and technology they need to live well.

The new store arrives at an important time for the diabetes community in Geelong.

“1.3 million Victorians are affected by diabetes,” Mr Noonan says.

“As the Geelong community continues to grow, our work here becomes even more important. Savers Geelong gives local people another way to get behind that work and make a difference in their own community.”

Every donation to Savers Geelong will contribute to a brighter future for the diabetes community.
