My journey with diabetes

Joan's letter

My name is Joan Nolan.

I am 81 years old,
and I live with my Golden Retriever dog, Martha.

I had a rough start after my diagnosis about 20 years ago.

I was given very little information and no training with testing, etc.

I struggled for about 6 weeks before I called Diabetes Victoria and spoke to a
very helpful woman who set me on the right track, and I have found everything much easier since then.

I found once I had the correct information, life became much
easier while planning meals, arranging medication and coping with the very occasional 'hypo.'

I encourage all my friends considering making a will to think
of making a donation to charity.

Diabetes Victoria is one of the charities I would encourage them to consider.

Love Joan

Thank you

We are deeply grateful to Joan for sharing her story and for her generosity in supporting Diabetes Victoria. Gifts like hers help ensure that people living with diabetes can access the information, care and reassurance they need, now and into the future. To everyone considering leaving a gift in their will, thank you for helping us continue this vital work.
